| HAITI IS THE POOREST COUNTRY IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE, with 80% of the population living under the poverty line. Millions of Haitians lack clean water, food, and medical supplies. Several years ago I visited my birthplace of Baie-du-Mesle, having forgotten the problems that Haitians face. I drank the local water, which was ridden with bacteria. As a result of not taking the proper vaccines, I came down with a fever. That trip back to my birthplace was just a glimpse into what many Haitians face on a daily basis. |

THE FACT REMAINS, many citizens of Haiti don’t have the right tools to grow their own food. As a result, many citizens are malnourished, which most of time leads to some sort of fatality. Being a native of a third world country, I know all too well what it’s like waking up just hoping to have a nice warm meal that day, but those were few and far between. The majority of the people in Haiti depend on farming in order to get their food, but because of changes in the land and weather, it is hard to grow enough food to feed even a small family. I remember as kid when my father used to grow our own food. Oftentimes, it would rain so hard that we would lose everything. It seemed to be always one thing or another! If the weather wasn’t a factor; the bugs and insects were. THROUGH THE DEDICATION of others and my desire to encourage economic and societal advancement for my country, I formed a non-profit organization called Hand-to-Hand. Hand-to-Hand was initially founded to provide the people in my village with the proper resources to improve their quality of life. Hand-to-Hand is dedicated to help change the lives of the Haitian people by providing them with the proper essentials of living, such as education, better health care, clothing, clean water and food. I formed this organization to give back to my country and to reach out to the people living in Haiti that want more out of life, much like myself. WHAT THE PEOPLE OF HAITI NEED IS A HELPING HAND, so that later on down the road they would be able to provide for themselves. That being said, I would like to give you the opportunity to help save millions of Haitian peoples lives. Though we are a new organization, I encourage not only your donations but your suggestions and ideas, as well.
